SoCal Queens

SoCal Queens – 99 Entries!

Note from Andre Eubanks, Tournament Director:

Another tournament in the books and I could not be more satisfied with the results. We ended up with 99 entries split into 3 divisions. The bowlers bowled on a 40ft Challenge Pattern (Chichen Itza) and scores were a bit lower than I expected, but the ladies found a way to adapt…

Congrats to our finalists in each division and our champions:

Queens – Virginia Young
Senior Queens – Laura Hardeman
Princess – Jessica Garcia

Virginia was also our overall champion and took home the beautiful plaque! (Thanks again to our legends for allowing me to use their photos)

I can’t thank my helpers (Deanna LeForbes, Tom Leigh, Bret Haynes, Patrick Tollefson, Jon Diso and Alex Tucker) enough for keeping things moving along while I ran around flustered and confused. It would easily be an impossible feat, but bowlers always pitch in where they can, as we all love this sport so much!

There are a lot of small details involved with running any event, let alone one of this caliber and capacity, so I thank everyone for their patience through everything. I definitely underestimated the number of entries we would get, resulting in 8 bowlers on most pairs! But I guess if you build it, they will come. 😁😁

We raised $695 in our raffle, which went 100% in the prize fund, allowing us to pay more spots in each division. So thanks again to #900Global, #Storm, #Mongoose, #LogoInfusion, #IGBO, Judy Thompson and Paula Vidad for their donations.

We also received an anonymous donation of $100 per division to pay $50 to high out of cash and $50 to last place which was greatly appreciated.

I can say with 100% honesty that running this tournament for these ladies is easily the highlight of 2017 for me. Im not big on attention but the outpouring of appreciation you showed me today are the thoughts I will keep with me when I ask myself “Why do I run tournaments when I could be bowling one?” As simple as it is “Thank you” gives me the motivation to continue doing this, and I thank you all for thanking me!

You ladies are definitely deserving of having your own events, even if it has to be me to do it….while I know I can’t solve every issue, I am taking notes and suggestions on how to make the event even bigger and better next time…

Lastly thanks to Leonard Ruiz and Staff at Cal Bowl for hosting us…we can’t run events without centers that are willing to host us!

I hope I didn’t forget anyone, if I did it is definitely not intentional…

Full results and payouts will be posted on our website by the end of the week.

Thank you again!
