This month’s offerings are a great mix of reaction and price points. We’re sure you can find an addition or replacement to an older piece with these choices. Core numbers noted below are at 15lbs. All bowling balls (except Polys) have a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase.

DV8 Trouble Maker (WWRD 4/20/2023)

April is bringing some great equipment to round out your bag on medium and more friction from Track Bowling. Both are built with HK22 (first 2 for Track), the hottest topic in the industry. The big game changer is the DV8 Trouble Maker. There is a lot of tech on this release, but it’s easy to drill and relate to bowlers who are looking for defined ball motions. Be sure to check this one out and get a pre-order in for 1 or more as this will be a hot seller. Core numbers noted below are at 15lbs. All bowling balls (except Polys) have a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase.

DV8 Trouble Maker

The R&D team has built the first core designed for 2-handed/no thumb bowlers.  But one handed traditional bowlers have seen great success in testing and staff reviews. We cannot explain the entire tech here, but all the information including videos explaining each step of the way is on the DV8 website link below.

As with all new equipment that you drill, your bowler specs are needed to give your shop technician all the information so they can fine tune core orientation to give you the desired ball motion you’re looking for. This includes your Positive Axis Point (PAP), Axis Tilt, Base Axis Rotation and Range, Total Ball Speed, Base Rev Rate.

With bowlers who only use 2 fingers the center of the grip is directly in the middle of the finger holes and split vertically. To assist shops in understanding how to drill the balls, DV8 has added a downloadable program named the No-Thumb Dual Angle Converter Tool.

There are various videos online with different Staff members (no thumb and traditional) who are seeing great results. The following statement is mine alone-

If you’re a bowler who uses 2 fingers only and are purchasing a DV8 Trouble Maker, consider getting 2.

If you don’t have a ball drilled for your PAP and tilt, get your numbers from a reputable shop or coach and drill one with the base number. If you are a seasoned bowler and have equipment that you understand, think about a replacement for your base (benchmark) ball and one for the motion you may be missing in your bag.

I say this as a former shop owner and over 45 years in the business. This technology is new and at this period in time, the way balls are designed is more exact than any other time in the industry. If you get more than one, drill one as a base reaction and bowl with it for awhile. Get to understand what adjustments can be made and how it affects your ball motion.

DV8 Captiv8 (WWRD 2/23/2023)

February is bringing some new tech and exciting updates in equipment to get ready for tournament season. This month’s choices are from DV8, Hammer and Track. There is a good mix in reactions and intentions with these 4 and 2 are built the hottest cover base in bowling-HK22. More info is available at - https://brunswickbowling.com/products/hyperkinetic22Core numbers noted below are at 15lbs. All bowling balls (except Polys) have a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase.

DV8 Captiv8

DV8 has brought the HK22 base formulation to the lower price point without giving up performance. Slated for medium to dry conditions, the DV8 Captiv8 would be perfect for late game transitions and older, high friction centers. Usually balls built around this idea are clean and smooth throughout the ball motion. This beautiful Gold/Silver/Emerald choice has a new core that is built to assist the cover so it reacts at the right place down lane. I see a sharper move later (due to the HK22 as seen in other products) but something that you don’t have to over thrown to get the ball where you need it to get to the pocket. Bowlers that are rev dominant can use this without having to go to bigger pieces and alter the surface.

DV8 Brutal Collision (WWRD 12/2/2022)

DV8 Brutal Collision

The first Collision has a great motion down lane for an asymmetric ball and is a hybrid asym many bowlers should take a look at. The Brutal Collision will bump that motion up as the base cover is HK22. HyperKinetic22 (HK22) was introduced last month and this is the first solid reactive that is built with it. With a polished solid cover, the Brutal Collision will have more hook and a devastating backend reaction. The colors are a combo of Lime/Orange/Blue that will pop again due to HK22. Built with DynamiCore and D.O.T. gives you durability, hitting power and drilling versatility. Get ready to turn some heads with the DV8 Brutal Collision.

DV8 Verge Solid (WWRD 10/21/2022)

DV8 Verge Solid

DV8 brings out a strong symmetrical for a strong overall hook. Some bowlers prefer the motion of a symmetrical core, but couldn’t find a ball for heavy volumes. Well, DV8 has answered the call with the DV8 Verge Solid. Using the Inciter Max Traction cover (Hell Raiser Blaze) and a low RG Threshold core for earlier revolutions will cut through the conditioner. The Orange/White combo will be an attention getter. The DV8 release uses DynamiCore and D.O.T. to add performance to this release.

DV8 Hellcat (WWRD 8/19/2022)

DV8 Hellcat

Taking the Hell Raiser core to another level, the new DV8 HellCat cover (Havoc) is smoother in oil than the super strong Hell Raiser Blaze, but more than the “Skid/Flip” cover of the Hell Raiser Return. Built for use on medium to heavy conditions, the HellCat could be a good choice for speed dominant bowlers where pearls and some hybrids aren’t strong enough to read the back of the pattern. The HellCat colors are Purple/Red/Black and finished at 500/2000 Siaair Micro Pad. This surface prep gives a strong midlane and backend motion. The DV8 HellCat will be the strongest solid in the current line.

DV8 Diamond Diva (WWRD 6/24/2022)

DV8 Diamond Diva

The Diva has returned with improvements! Now named the DV8 Diamond Diva and is back with the familiar Pink and Black Diamond color scheme. They have been built with DynamiCore and the new Diva 2.0 core and Inciter Max Flip Hybrid coverstock; you will see a ball that has more length than the Medusa with a quick response to friction. The original Diva was a personal favorite and an early Pink and Black color combo that gathered attention going down the lane. I see the same for the DV8 Diamond Diva. They will be available in 12-16lbs. Check the core numbers in the 12-13lb balls.

DV8 Damn Good Verge Pearl (WWRD 4/29/2022)

  DV8 Damn Good Verge Pearl

The follow up people have been waiting for is finally here! With the original Damn Good Verge still a staple in a lot of bowler’s bags, the pearl version was a natural addition. This polished purple ball will be cleaner and a later shape than the DGV. Built with D.O.T. and DynamiCore, the Damn Good Verge Pearl is built to last and perform. There is an alternate core in the weights under 14, but the numbers create the same motion as the heavier counterparts. On the DV8 chart, the DGV Pearl fits between the Activ8 and Medusa.

DV8 Collision (WWRD 2/25/2022)

 DV8 Collision

DV8 adds a new piece to their Pro Performance line with the Collision. The Collision is built with the new Inciter Max Continuation Hybrid cover and Collision core combo. The performance is designed for length with a strong backend on medium to heavy volumes. The motion would be stronger than the Hell Raiser return with a sharper motion down lane. This ball will grab attention not just from its motion but its colors of Pink/Silver/Black, too. The DV8 Collision built with D.O.T. and DynamiCore for drilling ease, durability and hitting power. Balls that are 12 and 13lbs have an alternate core, but are designed to create the ball motion of the heavier counterparts.

DV8 Medusa (WWRD 10/22/2021)

 DV8 Medusa

Any bowlers who have been looking for that ball that gives that skid/flip reaction can now see it in the new DV8 Medusa; just don’t stare. The Medusa core is designed for a strong midlane and backend motion. Combined with the Inciter Max Flip coverstock (Hell Raiser Return) and built with DynamiCore and D.O.T. this ball will turn the corner and have great durability. The colors are Black/Yellow/Gold and the core is the same in all weights 16-12lbs.
